American craftsmanship
We value the patient joinery, careful sanding, and skilled finishing that distinguish furniture made by experienced American craftspeople.

Family-owned since 1994
Mary Jane’s began with a carpenter’s respect for honest materials and grew into a family tradition of helping people choose furniture worth keeping.
A family tradition
After more than twenty years in the construction business in Mascoutah, master carpenter Don Schlichter followed his passion for fine woodworking. Don and Mary Jane opened the store in November 1994.
What started with an appreciation for solid wood became a place where families could slow down, compare real craftsmanship, and find furniture designed for decades of use.

What guides us
The way we work is simple: offer honest materials, thoughtful choices, and the kind of guidance we would want for our own homes.
We value the patient joinery, careful sanding, and skilled finishing that distinguish furniture made by experienced American craftspeople.
Real hardwood develops character over time. Its grain, weight, and repairability make it a practical foundation for furniture meant to stay.
We help customers compare styles, proportions, woods, finishes, and practical options without turning the experience into a sales pitch.

More than a catalog
See the grain in person. Feel how a chair supports you. Compare stain samples beside the furniture and talk through the details with someone who understands how the pieces are built.
Our selection spans dining rooms, bedrooms, living spaces, offices, youth furniture, outdoor pieces, and distinctive accents—with custom possibilities throughout.
